Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) are negotiations with First Brands to work out a financing agreement that could keep the company operating through Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, Amelia Pollard and Christian Davies of The Financial Times reports, citing several people familiar with the matter. The arrangement would see the carmakers paying in advance for products, which should give First Brands cash needed to keep its operations going, the sources added.
