NEW RELEASES: This week’s most notable new release is action-adventure title “Ninja Gaiden 4,” which is developed by Koei Tecmo’s (TKHCF) Team Ninja and PlatinumGames and published by Xbox Game Studios (MSFT). The game launches October 21 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 (SONY). Also out this week is Bandai Namco’s (NCBDY) action-puzzle game “Once Upon a Katamari,” which releases for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch (NTDOY) on October 24.

‘BATTLEFIELD 6’ SALES: Electronic Arts (EA) and Battlefield Studios announced that “Battlefield 6” is a “record-breaking success, shattering long-standing records for the Battlefield franchise – solidifying Battlefield 6 as one of the biggest gaming and entertainment launches of the year.” The company said that “Battlefield 6” hit all-time highs for franchise sales during the first three days of launch, selling over 7M copies and counting as of Friday, October 17. The game also had over 172M matches played online and accumulated over 15M hours watched on streaming services during the 3-day weekend as well as earning the most concurrent players for “Battlefield” ever.

Of note, “Battlefield 6” had a huge opening week in Europe, surpassing launch sales of last year’s “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” and this year’s “EA Sports FC 26,” The Game Business’ Christopher Dring reported last week, citing GSD data, which combines physical and digital sales. The launch was four times larger than that of “Battlefield 5,” the author says, noting that “Black Ops 6” was included in Xbox Game Pass, which means it likely still had a higher player count than “Battlefield 6.”

SWITCH 2: Nintendo has asked suppliers to manufacture as many as 25M units of its Switch 2 console by the end of March 2026, setting the Japanese video game maker up for record first-year sales for the gaming system, Bloomberg’s Takashi Mochizuki and Debby Wu reported last week. The company has requested that suppliers ramp up production, counting on demand to remain over the coming holiday season and into 2026, according to people familiar with the matter.

ROBLOX SUBPOENA: Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced Monday that the state is issuing criminal subpoenas against Roblox (RBLX). “The subpoenas will investigate whether Roblox’s actions, or lack thereof, are aiding predators in accessing and harming children,” the AG said in a statement. “Platforms like Roblox have become breeding grounds for predators to gain access to our kids,” said Uthmeier. “We will stop at nothing in the fight to protect Florida’s children, and companies that expose them to harm will be held accountable.” The AG added that multiple investigations “have revealed that sexual predators are using Roblox to access, communicate with, and groom minors. Troubling allegations against the gaming platform include negligence in adequately verifying users’ ages and failures in content moderation that have allowed sexually explicit material to evade filters and circulate within the platform.”
