Four Democratic Senators sent a letter to the Acting Inspector General of the United States seeking a review of HP Enterprise’s (HPE) takeover of Juniper. The letter states in part: “We write to urge you to investigate the circumstances surrounding the U.S. Department of Justice’s proposed settlement of its lawsuit challenging Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co.’s acquisition of Juniper Networks, Inc., including the recent termination of two senior officials in its Antitrust Division. The DOJ’s choice to settle this lawsuit, reportedly over the objections of the Antitrust Division and despite the fact that the settlement does not appear to address the competition concerns presented by the DOJ’s own complaint, raises significant concerns that the deal was motivated by improper business and political considerations.”
