The U.S. Justice Department has filed a lawsuit against Uber (UBER) over claims that the company discriminates against people with physical disabilities in violation of federal law, Bloomberg’s Natalie Lung reports. The department alleges that Uber drivers routinely refuse to accommodate passengers who travel with service animals or who use stowable wheelchairs. Uber said it disagrees with the government’s allegations and has a zero-tolerance policy for confirmed service denials, taking decisive action if a violation is confirmed.
