Disney (DIS) plans to exit the agreement it signed with Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI last year as the ChatGPT maker plans to shut down its Sora AI video generation app, a source familiar with the matter told The Hollywood Reporter’s Alex Weprin. The media giant had pledged to invest $1B in OpenAI as part of the deal, and also agreed to license some of its characters for use in Sora, the author notes.
