In a letter to Federal Housing Financing Administration director William Pulte, Senators Elizabeth Warren, Charles Schumer and Cory Booker urged the agency to pause any efforts to reprivatize Fannie Mae (FNMA) (FNMA ) and Freddie Mac (FMCC). The FHFA should “study the potential effects of reprivatization on the mortgage market to avoid raising costs on families and weakening the stability of the broader housing market,” the Senators wrote.
