CoreCivic (CXW) announced that CoreCivic’s board of directors has appointed Patrick Swindle to president and CEO, effective January 1, 2026. This follows Swindle’s appointment as president and COO on January 1. Swindle will succeed Damon Hininger, who has served as CEO since August 17, 2009. In addition, effective January 1, 2026, Hininger will resign from CoreCivic’s board, and Swindle will be appointed to fill the vacancy. In connection with the appointment of Swindle as CEO, Hininger and CoreCivic have entered into a transition agreement with an effective date of January 1, 2026. Under the transition agreement, Hininger will work closely with Swindle as a special advisor to the CEO and chairman.
