Convenience store sales fall as customers skip Doritos, Twinkies, WSJ says

U.S. convenience store sales volume fell by 4.3% as prices rose in the year that ended February 23, with the most sharply dropped including rice cakes, dips, nuts, and jerky, Jesse Newman and Laura Cooper of The Wall Street Journal reports, citing data from market-research firm Circana. Sales of Doritos, Twinkies, Heath bars and Newports have also been affected. PepsiCo (PEP), J.M. Smucker (SJM), and Reynolds American are introducing new products and marketing strategies to entice price-sensitive convenience store shoppers.
