In the opening hour of the evening session, U.S. equity futures are on the back foot, with S&P 500 e-minis down 0.1% and Nasdaq 100 off by 0.3% amid follow-through weakness from Tuesday’s late-day selling. In commodities, WTI Crude Oil was down for the 4th straight day, trading just above $65 per barrel following a large draw in API crude inventories. Metals are higher however, with Gold back above $3,430 per ounce and Silver approaching $38 per ounce.

Tech and Communications Services sectors – the two outperformers yesterday – were among the laggards in the S&P 500, while Materials led on Tuesday. Investors also cited a weak Services PMI data which, after last month’s bounce, declined to within a decimal of contraction. Afterhours, weak results from AMD and Super Micro raised the likelihood that Semiconductors and Hardware would remain under pressure on Wednesday.
