In the opening 90 minutes of the evening session, U.S. equity futures are higher and poised to regain some ground lost over the first two trading days of the week. S&P 500 is up 0.7%, Nasdaq 100 is up 0.8%, and Dow Industrials is up 0.6%. Investors are turning more positive on the announcement by the U.S. Trade Representative Greer’s office that he will travel to Geneva later this week and hold the first official trade talks with his counterpart from China. This also marks the first confirmation of official talks being scheduled since the White House released its Liberation Day tariff scheme targeting Chinese imports.
In commodities, safe-haven demand is coming out of precious metals, with Gold futures down 0.6% at $3,401, while Energy is rallying on risk-on flows, with WTI Crude up 0.7% above $59.50 per barrel. API data was also bullish for oil, with crude stocks drawdown of 4.5M barrels.
