Closing Bell Movers: Nike gains 10% on more positive earnings call

In the opening hour of the evening session, U.S. equity futures are retaining the positive bias on display again on Thursday – S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 are both up 0.1% while Dow Industrials are up 0.2%.  In commodities, WTI Crude Oil is little changed around $65 per barrel, with Gold little changed and Silver up for the second straight day approaching $37 per ounce.

Confident Investing Starts Here:

Internet names Meta (META) and Alphabet (GOOGL), along with Amazon (AMZN), were at the forefront among the Mag-7 names, placing Communication Services at the top of the S&P 500 sectors for the day, while Real Estate brought up the rear as investors prioritized growth over income.  Afterhours, Nike also helped to quell concerns of a slowing economy translating into reduced discretionary spending, with the company reporting a modest Q4 earnings and revenue beat but forecasting improvement over the balance of the calendar year.
