U.S. indices followed Friday’s broad selloff with more malaise on Monday, led by weakness in Technology and Energy sectors, and the opening hour of the evening session suggests that the year-end retreat could continue – S&P e-minis and Dow Industrials are down 0.1% while Nasdaq 100 futures are off by 0.2%. In commodities, WTI crude oil slipped further below $57 per barrel, while precious metals are consolidating recent gains.

In addition to AI arms race skepticism taking deeper hold in Tech following disappointing results from Oracle (ORCL) and Broadcom (AVGO) last week, traders are also bracing for macro headline risk – tomorrow’s delayed reported from the Bureau of Labor Statistics will cover October and November employment data while the Census Bureal will unveil its November retail sales figures.
