U.S. state and local officials have identified many unlicensed marijuana-growing operations throughout Maine, California and other states like Oklahoma and New Mexico that are run by Chinese networks, writes Liyan Qi for the Wall Street Journal. Chinese-run marijuana farms have emerged across the U.S, with some being run legitimately with a commercial growing license, but “just as illegal marijuana shops have proliferated, so have unlicensed growing operations,” added the story. Oklahoma has become more stringent in approving “growing licenses as a result of several investigations into marijuana-growing operations in the state, WSJ noted.
