U.S. state and local officials have identified many unlicensed marijuana-growing operations throughout Maine, California and other states like Oklahoma and New Mexico that are run by Chinese networks, writes Liyan Qi for the Wall Street Journal. Chinese-run marijuana farms have emerged across the U.S, with some being run legitimately with a commercial growing license, but “just as illegal marijuana shops have proliferated, so have unlicensed growing operations,” added the story. Oklahoma has become more stringent in approving “growing licenses as a result of several investigations into marijuana-growing operations in the state, WSJ noted. Publicly traded companies that may be impacted by this include Tilray (TLRY), Cronos Group (CRON), Canopy Growth (CGC), Aurora Cannabis (ACB), ETFMG Alternative Harvest ETF (MJ), Scotts Miracle-Gro (SMG) and Verano Holdings (VRNOF).
