Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission Rostin Behnam will step down on Mon, Jan 20, the day of Donald Trump’s inauguration. Behnam’s four year tenure at commodity and options regulator produced federal guidelines for carbon offsets “and deepened scrutiny of crypto and so-called event contracts,” said the Financial Times. The outgoing commissioner expressed continuing concerns for the oversight of “digital assets, which include bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies,” Stefania Palma wrote for FT. Publicly traded companies in the space include Bit Digital (BTBT), Coinbase (COIN), Mara Holdings (MARA), MicroStrategy (MSTR), Riot Platforms (RIOT), Stronghold Digital Mining (SDIG), TeraWulf (WULF) Robinhood (HOOD), Coinbase Block (SQ) Riot Platforms TeraWulf CleanSpark (CLSK), Iris Energy (IREN) and Hut 8 (HUT).
