Carlyle (CG) is nearing a roughly EUR 7B deal to buy BASF’s (BASFY) coatings business, The Financial Times’ Ivan Levingston, Sebastien Ash, and Oliver Barnes report. Carlyle has beat out other private capital groups in an auction for the business unit and is now in exclusive talks with BASF, according to people familiar with the matter.
