Chinese car makers BYD (BYDDY) and Geely (GELYF) are among finalists vying to acquire a Nissan-Mercedes-Benz factory in Mexico as China seeks a manufacturing foothold in the country where tariffs from the U.S. are fueling plant closures, Reuters’ Emily Green reports, citing a person familiar with the matter. BYD and Geely emerged from a group of nine firms expressing interest in the facility, including China’s Chery and Great Wall Motor (GWLLF), the author notes.
