Brazil suspends sales of Sarepta’s Elevidys after deaths

The Brazilian health regulatory agency Anvisa announced last night that is decided, as a precautionary measure, to temporarily suspend the marketing, distribution, manufacture, import, advertising and use of Sarepta’s (SRPT) gene therapy drug Elevidys in Brazil. “The suspension is in effect until the recent safety uncertainties related to reports of fatal cases of acute liver failure in patients treated with the product in the United States are fully clarified,” the agency said in a statement.
