BorgWarner announces new contract wins with Asian and European OEMs

BorgWarner (BWA) has secured a new contract to supply dual inverters to a major Chinese original equipment manufacturer, or OEM, for their hybrid vehicles. This extends the companies’ partnership following their dual inverter collaboration in 2021. The new project is scheduled to begin mass production by the end of 2025. BorgWarner’s dual inverter allows synchronous control of dual motors through a single controller. BorgWarner has additionally secured a new program for its electric cross differential technology for a Chinese OEM to be used in electric vehicles in China. By dynamically controlling power distribution between the wheels, eXD improves handling and traction capabilities. The company also secured a contract with a major East Asian OEM to supply turbochargers for their 1.6L engine, primarily for hybrid electric vehicle SUV applications in Korea. Production is scheduled to begin in 2027 at BorgWarner’s Pyongtaek facility in Korea. BorgWarner has also secured two turbocharger business wins for a major global OEM’s next-generation vehicles in Europe and North America. The company will supply its wastegate gasoline turbocharger for 1.0-liter engines used in next-generation compact and light commercial combustion and hybrid vehicles in Europe. Production is scheduled to begin in August 2027. Additionally, BorgWarner has also been awarded a high-performance turbocharger program for a 3.0-liter gasoline hybrid application in North America. Production will start in September 2028.
