Apple (AAPL) will shutter its Towson, Maryland retail store, the first of its U.S. sites where workers successfully unionized in 2022, Reuters reports, citing a company statement. The company, which also plans to close stores at Trumbull Mall in Connecticut and the North County Mall in California, said the decision was “difficult” and cited the departure of several retailers and worsening conditions at the Townson Town Center mall as reasons for the closure. The International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers said it is “outraged” by Apple’s decision and is exploring all legal options.
