Apple sells cheaper devices by using chips with slight defects, WSJ says

Apple (AAPL)s have developed a successful business from selling cheaper devices by using chips with slight defects that would otherwise be disposed of, Rolfe Winkler and Yang Jie of The Wall Street Journal reports. This has allowed Apple to sell cheaper devices when most other gadget makers are struggling with rising costs. The strategy is most apparent in the newly released $599 MacBook Neo, which was released with a version of the same chip used by the iPhone 16 Pro two years ago but with one less core graphics processor.
