Apple (AAPL) CEO Tim Cook told employees an all-hands meeting with staff on Thursday that he’s “deeply distraught” with the current U.S. approach to immigration and will continue pressing the issue with lawmakers, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports. Cook said immigration is especially important to Apple, which has “team members across the U.S. on some form of visa,” and that he will personally advocate for employees who are part of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. The CEO also discussed other topics, including Apple’s artificial intelligence efforts and the company’s 50th anniversary celebration, saying “AI is one of the most profound opportunities of our entire lifetime” and that the company is “extremely excited” about the opportunities it opens, Gurman writes. On succession, Cook said, “I spend a lot of time thinking about who’s in the room five years from now, 10 years from now. I am obsessed with this – who’s in the room 15 years from now.”
