American States Water initiated with a Neutral at BofA

BofA analyst Ross Fowler initiated coverage of American States Water (AWR) with a Neutral rating and $85 price target American is “among the highest quality utility profiles in our coverage,” notes the analyst, citing the company’s strong balance sheet, proven execution track record and consistent growth. However, at a 12% premium to water peers and a 44% premium to electric/gas, the firm thinks this quality is “appropriately priced” and generally prefers value in water, the analyst added.
