UBS lowered the firm’s price target on American Express (AXP) to $340 from $395 and keeps a Neutral rating on the shares. The firm adjusted targets in the large cap banks and consumer finance group as a part of a Q1 preview. The firm says that even after it reduced its presumed rate cuts from two to one in 2026, its estimates for 2026 and 2027 are largely unchanged. The year-to-date selloff in the sector “could unearth some opportunities, especially given strong momentum” in direct lending, capital markets, and de-regulation for the industry, the analyst tells investors in a research note.
