Ameresco (AMRC) and Republic Services (RSG) announced they achieved operation of a renewable natural gas facility located at the Upper Rock Island County Landfill in East Moline, Illinois, in December. The Ameresco-owned asset will upgrade landfill gas into pipeline-quality RNG. The 5.2 MWe facility is designed to process 2,000 standard cubic feet per minute of landfill gas and produce over 500,000 Dekatherms each year, avoiding more than 27,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually.
