Amazon’s chief AI scientist Peter DeSantis believes the company can use in-house chips to develop AI models more cheaply, as the company looks for a win after falling behind competitors in developing models and applications for consumers and businesses, Sean McLain and Sebastian Herrera of The Wall Street Journal reports. Amazon believes the lower cost for AI products should drive companies to go with Amazon for AI due to the high cost of chips and training AI.
