Amazon faces FAA, NTSB investigations after drone collision, CNBC reports

Amazon is facing federal investigations after its two of its Prime Air delivery unmanned aircraft collided with a crane in Arizona, prompting the ecommerce giant to temporarily halt drone delivery services in the area, CNBC’s Annie Palmer reports. The collision happened on Wednesday around 1pm ET in Tolleson, Arizona, as two MK30 drones hit the boom of a stationary construction crane that was in a commercial area just a few miles from an Amazon warehouse, the author says, noting that no injuries were reported. “We’re aware of an incident involving two Prime Air drones in Tolleson, Arizona,” Amazon spokesperson Terrence Clark said in a statement. “We’re currently working with the relevant authorities to investigate.” The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are probing the matter, the authors note.
