Alphabet’s (GOOGL) (GOOG) life sciences division Verily has laid off staff and ended its entire devices program as the company looks to shift more resources to AI, Business Insider’s Hugh Langley reports, citing a staff memo. “Over the years, Verily has built a legacy in developing world-class, innovative medical devices,” CEO Stephen Gillett wrote, noting that the “path forward requires difficult decisions” as Verily refocuses on AI and data infrastructure.
