Alibaba (BABA) recently received the initial permission from the Hong Kong stock exchange for a proposed spinoff of its Banma Network Technology unit through an initial public offering, Aileen Chuang of South China Morning Post reports. The company’s stake in Banma will drop 30% from the current 44.72% following the IPO.
