Tesla’s (TSLA) Cybercab is Already Making an Impact in Austin

Tesla’s (TSLA) Cybercab is already making an impact on the streets of Austin. In recent days, several of the EV maker’s prototypes have been spotted driving through downtown areas, which have drawn attention with their small, two-seat design. Indeed, photos and videos show the vehicles moving through regular traffic, although they are still using steering wheels and human safety drivers.

Interestingly, enthusiasts filmed two Cybercabs driving together in central Austin over the weekend. While the vehicles currently have steering wheels and side mirrors, they otherwise appear close to their final exterior design. Industry watchers have pointed out that Cybercab sightings are becoming more frequent, which suggests that the number of tests is expanding.

At the same time, Cybercab testing has appeared in other locations across the U.S., including Apple’s Visitor Center in California and Tesla’s Fremont factory test track. It is worth mentioning that Elon Musk confirmed at the 2025 shareholder meeting that manufacturing is expected to start around April 2026. He also suggested that Tesla factories could eventually produce one Cybercab every 10 seconds.
