SpaceX Has Confidentially Filed for an IPO

Elon Musk‘s SpaceX has confidentially filed for an initial public offering, Bloomberg reports, citing people familiar with the matter. Indeed, the aerospace company submitted its draft registration to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, which allows it to work through feedback before making details public. If everything stays on track, the IPO could happen as early as June and potentially become one of the largest listings ever. In fact, SpaceX could receive a valuation of more than $1.75 trillion and raise up to $75 billion.

This would easily surpass the current record set by Saudi Aramco’s $29 billion IPO in 2019. To prepare for this, the company has brought in major banks like Bank of America (BAC), Goldman Sachs (GS), JPMorgan (JPM), Citigroup (C), and Morgan Stanley (MS) to help lead the deal. In addition, SpaceX is considering a dual-class share structure, which would give insiders like Elon Musk greater control over decision-making.

While key details such as pricing and share count have not yet been disclosed, they are expected to be included in a later filing. Nevertheless, the IPO is expected to fund some of SpaceX’s most ambitious projects. These include increasing the launch rate of its Starship rocket, building AI-powered data centers in space, and even developing a base on the moon.
