The S&P 500 (SPX) has reversed its premarket losses and is trading slightly higher on Wednesday after House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer requested a bipartisan meeting with President Trump to discuss a government reopening solution.

“We write to demand a bipartisan meeting of legislative leaders to end the GOP shutdown of the federal government and decisively address the Republican healthcare crisis,” wrote the Democratic leaders in a letter to Trump. “Democrats stand ready to meet with you face to face, anytime and anyplace.”
Prediction Markets See Higher Chance of Early Reopening
The odds of the government reopening between November 8 and 11 have grown by 11% during the past 24 hours to 37% and lead the way on prediction platform Polymarket. Furthermore, the odds of a reopening on November 16 or later have shrunk by 11% to 33%.
President Trump has continued to reiterate his support for ending the filibuster rule in the Senate in order to expedite a reopening, although Republicans remain opposed to the measure. He also cited the shutdown as a supporting factor in several Democratic election wins across the nation.
