“Rollable LED Screen” in New Intel Laptops Gives Intel Stock (NASDAQ:INTC) a Boost

Story Highlights

Intel brings out a new laptop with Lenovo with an unexpected new feature, and its new processor lineup could have more power than you expect.

“Rollable LED Screen” in New Intel Laptops Gives Intel Stock (NASDAQ:INTC) a Boost

While laptop computers as we have known them for the last few decades have not really changed all that much, some major changes may be on the way. Granted, we have seen improvements in processors, and the rise of solid state storage over hard drives has been noteworthy. But chip stock Intel (INTC), working with Lenovo, has an interesting new idea. One interesting enough to fuel investor interest and send shares up fractionally in Tuesday afternoon’s trading.

Confident Investing Starts Here:

The device in question, known as the Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, went from “proof-of-concept” to “first-in-market” in around two years’ time, reports note. On the surface, it seems simple enough: an AI PC with a 14-inch monitor. But with a hand gesture, or a button press, the new ThinkBook can deploy a supplementary screen—a “rollable laptop screen”—that increases the screen size to 16.7 inches. Basically, this allows a nearly 17-inch laptop screen to fit in the same chassis—and laptop bag—meant for a 14-inch screen.

The new ThinkBook got its first contact with the public back in January, reports note, at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The response was wild, with 75 different show awards landing in this thing’s portfolio. Jimmy Fallon himself reportedly noted that he wanted one when it was shown on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

You Load 52 Cores, and What Do You Get?

Meanwhile, new reports emerged suggesting possible new details on the Nova Lake central processing unit (CPU) line. And the details are looking pretty impressive, with one report suggesting the Nova Lake line may pack up to 52 cores in total. The breakdown is 16 performance, or P, cores, 32 efficiency, or E, cores, and four low-power efficiency, or LP-E cores to round out the total to 52.

That means that some models of Nova Lake will actually have more than double the core count that Arrow Lake processors offered, reports note, and give Intel a fighting chance at winning back market share from the likes of AMD (AMD) and its Threadripper.

Is Intel a Buy, Hold or Sell?

Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Hold consensus rating on INTC stock based on one Buy, 26 Holds and four Sells assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After a 32.29% loss in its share price over the past year, the average INTC price target of $21.30 per share implies 2.18% upside potential.
