Simeon Gutman has given his Buy rating due to a combination of factors that highlight Walmart’s strategic advancements in eCommerce and retail media. Walmart has been actively testing and implementing sponsored ads within its in-house AI shopping agent, ‘Sparky’, which is part of its broader strategy to leverage its scale and data access to enhance its eCommerce capabilities.
Furthermore, Walmart’s collaboration with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT’s ‘Instant Checkout’ feature showcases its commitment to innovation and customer engagement. These initiatives not only position Walmart to capitalize on the evolving landscape of agentic commerce but also create new revenue streams through personalized advertising and enhanced customer interaction. Gutman views these developments as indicative of Walmart’s ability to maintain a competitive edge in the digital retail space.

In another report released on November 24, Oppenheimer also maintained a Buy rating on the stock with a $115.00 price target.

Based on the recent corporate insider activity of 223 insiders, corporate insider sentiment is negative on the stock. This means that over the past quarter there has been an increase of insiders selling their shares of WMT in relation to earlier this year.
