Constantin Hesse has given his Sell rating due to a combination of factors affecting SMA Solar Technology. The company’s recent order intake has been notably weaker than expected, with a significant year-over-year and quarter-over-quarter decline in large-scale orders. This downturn is partly attributed to increased uncertainty surrounding regulatory changes and a lack of clarity on safe harbor requirements.
Additionally, the company’s financial health has shown signs of strain, with a negative free cash flow and a reduction in net cash compared to previous quarters. SMA Solar Technology’s management has also indicated that they expect their fiscal year 2025 revenue to be at the lower end of their guidance range, coupled with a cautious outlook on macroeconomic conditions. These elements contribute to a less favorable investment outlook, prompting the Sell rating.
