Daniel Wilson-Omordia has given his Hold rating due to a combination of factors related to Poste Italiane’s planned acquisition of TIM. He sees strategic logic in combining Poste’s distribution reach with TIM’s telecom offering, which could broaden Poste’s role as a multi-service provider and offer a new growth vector just as its standalone expansion is expected to decelerate.
At the same time, he flags that these advantages might have been partially achievable through a looser partnership, while full ownership introduces added complexity and a shift in the earnings mix toward telecom, which may unsettle Poste’s traditional financials-focused investor base. Although management guides to meaningful EPS accretion from 2027 onward and the financial case appears broadly supportive, his own estimates are somewhat more conservative, leading him to a balanced, wait-and-see stance rather than a more decisive positive or negative call.
According to TipRanks, Wilson-Omordia is a 3-star analyst with an average return of 34.3% and a 100.00% success rate.
In another report released today, Barclays also maintained a Hold rating on the stock with a €22.00 price target.
