Ming-Hsun Lee has given his Buy rating due to a combination of factors that point to improving fundamentals and attractive upside potential for Pony AI Inc. The company’s preliminary 2025 results showed a significantly smaller net loss than previously projected, with losses narrowing notably from 2024 levels and implied fourth-quarter earnings turning positive versus a large loss a year earlier. Management highlighted that a key driver of the earnings surprise was a substantial fair value gain from its investment in Moore Threads Technology, and even after stripping out this one-off benefit, the adjusted loss still came in slightly better than the analyst’s prior expectations. In Lee’s view, this performance, combined with solid balance sheet metrics and market capitalization, supports the investment case.

Lee also believes that the strategic trajectory of Pony AI underpins the Buy recommendation, particularly the company’s plans to expand its Robotaxi fleet. As the autonomous driving business scales, he expects operating leverage and improved unit economics to gradually enhance profitability. The current share price of HKD109.30 is seen as offering a favorable entry point relative to Bank of America’s price objective of HKD164.00, implying material upside. Taken together, the earnings improvement, upside to the target price, and anticipated benefits from scaling operations justify maintaining a positive stance on the stock.

According to TipRanks, Lee is a 4-star analyst with an average return of 20.7% and a 45.92% success rate. Lee covers the Consumer Cyclical sector, focusing on stocks such as XPeng, Inc. ADR, Nio, and Li Auto.
