Neurocrine Biosciences: Vykat XR Acquisition Unlocks Diversified Growth and Upside Potential Despite Near-Term Pipeline Lull

Analyst Tazeen Ahmad of Bank of America Securities reiterated a Buy rating on Neurocrine, boosting the price target to $199.00.

Tazeen Ahmad has given his Buy rating due to a combination of factors, primarily the strategic acquisition of Soleno Therapeutics and its lead product Vykat XR, which immediately expands and diversifies Neurocrine’s revenue base beyond Ingrezza. Despite an initially uneven launch driven by safety concerns and a short-seller report, Vykat XR has resumed growth with improving patient starts, a manageable adverse-event discontinuation rate comparable to trials, and an annualized revenue run-rate approaching $377 million alongside positive cash flow.

Tazeen Ahmad’s rating is based on Neurocrine’s plan to capitalize on its established commercial infrastructure to scale Vykat XR in a concentrated U.S. market of roughly 10,000 Prader–Willi patients, supported by strong intellectual property that could extend exclusivity into the mid‑2040s and limited competitive pressure after rivals’ setbacks. The analyst’s updated DCF attributes significant standalone value to Vykat XR, driving an increased price objective of $199 per share and reinforcing the view that the stock offers attractive upside at current levels, even in a relatively quiet pipeline year focused on commercial execution for Ingrezza, Crenessity, and Vykat XR.

In another report released yesterday, TipRanks – xAI also reiterated a Buy rating on the stock with a $147.00 price target.

NBIX’s price has also changed slightly for the past six months – from $139.430 to $132.480, which is a -4.98% drop .
