Tom Nikic has given his Hold rating due to a combination of factors tied to Lululemon’s leadership transition and investor expectations. The appointment of longtime Nike executive Heidi O’Neill as CEO brings sector-relevant experience, particularly in women’s athletic wear, but the market had been hoping for Jane Nielsen, a highly regarded operator, which has weighed on the stock’s immediate reaction.
Nikic also notes that O’Neill’s most senior tenure at Nike coincided with a controversial strategic period, which may initially temper investor confidence. Given that major turnarounds in the athletic space typically unfold slowly and O’Neill will not assume the role for several months, he believes it is too early to turn more positive or negative on the shares, supporting a neutral, Hold stance for now.
According to TipRanks, Nikic is a 4-star analyst with an average return of 8.9% and a 51.53% success rate. Nikic covers the Consumer Cyclical sector, focusing on stocks such as On Holding AG, Carter’s, and Crocs.
