Freshpet: Pullback Creates Compelling Entry Point as Brand Strength and Acquisition Appeal Offset New Competition

Oppenheimer analyst Rupesh Parikh upgraded the rating on Freshpet to a Buy today, setting a price target of $80.00.

Rupesh Parikh has given his Buy rating due to a combination of factors that, in his view, now tilt the risk/reward in Freshpet’s favor. After a recent double‑digit pullback tied to concerns over Costco’s Kirkland fresh pet food launch, he sees the stock trading at valuations closer to historic trough levels, which makes the current entry point more compelling relative to expected growth.

Parikh also expresses greater confidence that management can sustain at least high single‑digit revenue growth despite new competition, while maintaining pricing power to navigate cost pressures over time. In addition, he highlights that past attempts by rivals to scale fresh pet food at retail have had limited success, and he believes Freshpet’s strong brand and product quality, combined with its appeal as a potential acquisition target for larger pet players, provide meaningful longer‑term upside.

In another report released yesterday, D.A. Davidson also reiterated a Buy rating on the stock with a $98.00 price target.
