Samik Chatterjee has given his Buy rating due to a combination of factors related to Corning’s leverage to improving LCD TV panel dynamics and its strong positioning in the display supply chain. He sees near-term support for Corning’s Display segment as panel makers raise prices from multi‑year lows and TV brands pull forward panel purchases ahead of major sporting events in 2026, driving above‑seasonal panel area shipments. In his view, the recent rebound in panel pricing versus typical seasonal patterns, coupled with healthier shipment trends, indicates a more favorable operating environment for Corning’s glass business despite ongoing year‑over‑year price declines.
Additionally, Chatterjee highlights that large‑area panel producers such as BOE are gaining share and growing shipments faster than the broader market, which directly benefits Corning as a key glass supplier. He notes that LCD technology still dominates global viewing area, with televisions representing the majority of LCD screen demand, underscoring the structural importance of Corning’s display glass. While he acknowledges near‑term risks from potential shipment slowdowns and inventory digestion in 2Q26 as TV makers react to price increases, he believes the overall 2026 outlook remains solid, with front‑loaded demand and an ongoing mix shift toward larger, premium TV panels supporting Corning’s earnings power. On balance, he views the combination of cyclical recovery in panels, Corning’s entrenched customer relationships, and its high exposure to LCD TV glass as justifying a Buy recommendation.
In another report released on January 30, UBS also maintained a Buy rating on the stock with a $125.00 price target.
