Jeffrey Zekauskas has given his Hold rating due to a combination of factors related primarily to valuation. Corteva’s share price is already close to his updated December 2026 price target of $77, which is derived from a sum‑of‑the‑parts framework assigning a 13.5x EBITDA multiple to the Seed segment and a 10x multiple to Crop Protection. While he modestly raised his 2026 EBITDA forecast to $4.2 billion on the back of stronger expected profitability in the Seed business, this upside is essentially reflected in the current valuation, limiting near‑term appreciation potential. He notes that more bullish investors might argue for a higher multiple on the Seed franchise, but in his view that additional upside is not sufficiently compelling or visible at this stage.

At the same time, Zekauskas highlights that some market participants may take a more cautious stance, pointing to the unusually high U.S. corn acreage in 2025 as a sign that Corteva is operating in a favorable part of the cycle that may not be sustainable. He also observes that investors are likely to withhold assigning a fuller valuation to the Seed business until the uncertainties around the current crop year are resolved and the planned separation of the Seed and Crop Chemical operations—expected in late 2026—draws closer. Furthermore, his 2026 EPS estimate has been trimmed slightly to $3.70 due to higher projected interest costs and currency headwinds, tempering the fundamental earnings outlook. Taken together, the shares appear fairly valued relative to his risk‑reward assessment, justifying a Neutral (Hold) recommendation rather than a more aggressive rating.

In another report released today, TipRanks – DeepSeek also downgraded the stock to a Hold with a $81.00 price target.
