Phillip Blee has given his Buy rating due to a combination of factors tied to Floor & Decor’s long-term positioning despite near-term headwinds. He acknowledges that the company cut its full-year sales and earnings outlook after a soft first quarter and ongoing housing-market weakness, but views the resulting share-price pressure as an attractive entry point for investors with a longer time horizon.
He also highlights several structural positives that support future upside, including the company’s ability to take price with limited pushback, an enhanced pricing organization and tools, and competitive advantages versus pressured independents and less engaged big-box rivals. In addition, he points to rising gross-margin expectations as evidence that the business can improve profitability even in a challenging volume and macro environment, which he believes is not fully reflected in current guidance or the stock price.
In another report released on April 29, Telsey Advisory also maintained a Buy rating on the stock with a $80.00 price target.
