Brian White has given his Hold rating due to a combination of factors tied to both Alphabet’s strengths and its emerging risks. He acknowledges that Alphabet continues to benefit from robust digital advertising trends, with solid momentum in Google Search and a notable acceleration in Google Cloud’s revenue growth and backlog. The company is also making meaningful progress in artificial intelligence, rolling out new Gemini models and industry-focused AI solutions that could support long-term growth. However, he views the current valuation as full, especially in light of a challenging macroeconomic backdrop and intensifying competitive pressures in AI and cloud computing.
At the same time, White is concerned about Alphabet’s aggressive capital expenditure plans for 2026, which call for extraordinarily high levels of investment to support its AI and infrastructure ambitions. He questions the sustainability of this capex trajectory and the potential impact on free cash flow and returns to shareholders. While recent results exceeded expectations and prompted upward revisions to his estimates, these positives are balanced by the elevated spending outlook and macro risks. As a result, he believes the risk-reward profile is fairly balanced at current levels, warranting a Hold rather than a more bullish rating.

According to TipRanks, White is a 5-star analyst with an average return of 15.5% and a 65.32% success rate. White covers the Technology sector, focusing on stocks such as Apple, Salesforce, and MongoDB.

In another report released today, UBS also maintained a Hold rating on the stock with a $348.00 price target.
