Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director Bill Pulte has accused an individual of likely committing bank and wire fraud. Earlier this month, Pulte brought to President Trump’s attention that Fed Governor Lisa Cook may have committed mortgage fraud by listing two different properties as her principal residence.
“Consistent with my responsibility to ensure a safe and sound housing market, I am submitting another criminal referral today for Mortgage Fraud,” Pulte said in an X post. “Like so many other mortgage fraud cases, this one likely involves Bank Fraud and Wire Fraud.”
Cook Files Lawsuit Against Trump
After Pulte’s allegations came to light, Trump attempted to fire Cook. On Thursday, Cook and her lawyer filed a lawsuit against Trump, arguing that he has no legal grounds or cause to remove her from her position.
In a post quoting the first page of the lawsuit docket, Pulte said “I wonder why she didn’t put her personal address on the lawsuit.” Cook’s address is listed as the Fed headquarters in Washington, D.C. In another post, Pulte added that mortgage fraud was the largest contributor to the 2008 mortgage crisis.
