Zapier has released an AI Job Market survey of 550 corporate executives indicating that, despite a broader hiring slowdown, companies are aggressively competing for AI talent, creating new roles, and paying premium compensation for these skills. The findings suggest that while overall recruitment is cooling, organizations are increasing spend and building long-term strategies around AI capabilities, reinforcing Zapier’s positioning as an AI orchestration platform at the center of this shift.
The research highlights that generative AI usage and prompt engineering are the most sought-after skills at 67%, followed by data management and analysis at 60%, while communication, problem-solving, and project management also feature prominently, underscoring demand for AI fluency combined with core business skills. However, one-third of executives plan to rely on external consultants to fill AI gaps and 14% lack a clear plan, echoing Zapier’s earlier findings that employees without employer-provided AI training are far less productive, and underscoring market need for integrated platforms like Zapier that connect tools, infrastructure, and workflows so AI talent can generate enterprise-wide value.
