Yarbo is broadening its intelligent yard robotics strategy with the planned Yarbo Open Platform, a software and hardware ecosystem slated for early 2027 that will sit on top of its existing modular robot lineup. The initiative is designed to make Yarbo’s system more customizable and connected, positioning the company for deeper integration with smart home platforms and third-party developers.
At the software layer, Yarbo plans three core components: an Open API for linking its robots with external services, an SDK to let developers build advanced features and integrations, and a no-code Automation Editor in the Yarbo app so non-technical users can create custom workflows. This structure is meant to support both simple home automations and more complex, developer-driven use cases around outdoor maintenance and monitoring.
On the hardware side, Yarbo is developing CoreBridge, a standardized interface that exposes mounting points, power, and data connections so third parties can design their own modules that attach to Yarbo’s robots. The company cites an electromagnet-based attachment for moving garbage bins as an example, illustrating how partners or power users could extend the robots’ roles beyond mowing, snow removal, and leaf blowing.
In parallel with the platform roadmap, Yarbo is using Kickstarter to launch its Smart Assist Module (SAM) for the M Series, adding features intended to increase daily utility and user engagement. SAM’s Follow Me mode lets the robot travel alongside a user while carrying tools or materials, while Patrol Mode enables route-based movement with live video, app alerts, and optional audio notifications for property monitoring.
Strategically, the Open Platform and SAM signal Yarbo’s effort to shift from single-purpose outdoor machines toward a flexible robotics ecosystem that can support year-round, multi-function tasks. The roadmap covers both the existing Y Series and M Series, and alignment with ecosystems like Home Assistant, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa could expand Yarbo’s addressable market and strengthen platform stickiness. Further product and integration details are expected as development proceeds toward the 2027 release timeline.
