WitnessAI has secured $58 million in new strategic funding to accelerate global expansion of its AI security and governance platform and to extend its capabilities to cover agentic AI. The round is led by Sound Ventures, an early backer of OpenAI, Anthropic, and SentinelOne, with participation from Fin Capital, Qualcomm Ventures, Samsung Ventures, and Forgepoint Capital Partners. Capital will be deployed primarily to scale go-to-market operations internationally and to deepen product development, following a year in which WitnessAI reports more than 500% ARR growth and a 5x increase in headcount. The company, which last raised $27.5 million in May 2024, now positions this round as fuel to entrench itself as the core security layer for enterprises deploying AI at scale, particularly in regulated sectors such as financial services, telecom, utilities, and large-scale consumer industries.

Strategically, WitnessAI is extending its platform from securing LLM-based applications to governing and protecting AI agents, reflecting a shift toward more autonomous, multi-step AI workflows. The new agentic capabilities add observability into which agents are active, what tools and MCP servers they use, what data they access, and how they make decisions, tying agent behavior back to human identities and runtime context to improve explainability and policy enforcement. The platform now blocks attacks and malicious prompts before they reach agents, using behavioral-intent analysis rather than static rules to counter threats such as prompt injection and multi-turn exploits across cloud, on-device, and hybrid environments. Investors including Qualcomm Ventures and Samsung Ventures highlight WitnessAI as critical infrastructure for AI running at the edge and on mobile devices, while Fin Capital and SMBC emphasize its importance for secure AI adoption in financial services. With production deployments already protecting hundreds of thousands of employees and applications, WitnessAI aims to become the de facto standard for unified AI security, positioning its single-tenant, enterprise-first architecture as a “confidence layer” enabling large organizations to scale AI adoption without compromising security, compliance, or data sovereignty.
