Wispr Flow, an AI-driven dictation startup, has extended its core product to Android, marking a key expansion beyond its earlier Mac, Windows, and June 2025 iOS launches. The Android app uses a floating on-screen bubble instead of a keyboard-based interface, allowing users to tap or hold to start and stop speech input that is automatically cleaned of filler words and contextually formatted.
Alongside the Android debut, the company completed an infrastructure overhaul that it says delivers roughly 30% faster dictation performance and supports translation in more than 100 languages across apps. Wispr is also targeting India and global bilingual users with a new Hinglish model designed to transcribe mixed Hindi-English speech in Latin script, a move CEO Tanay Kothari describes as addressing a real-world code-switching use case.
The company reports early traction from a limited rollout, with users already dictating more than 1.3 million English words in just a few days, underscoring demand for its cross-platform voice interface. Competitive pressure on Android remains relatively light, with only a small number of comparable AI dictation offerings currently available, positioning Wispr to capture early market share on the platform.
Wispr’s product momentum is underpinned by significant venture funding, with $30 million raised in June in a round led by Menlo Ventures and another $25 million secured in November from Notable Capital, bringing total capital raised to $81 million and implying a valuation of around $700 million. For executives and investors, the Android launch, performance upgrade, and Hinglish model collectively signal an acceleration of Wispr’s strategy to replace mobile typing with voice, deepen its presence in high-growth markets like India, and reinforce its competitive position in AI-powered productivity tools.
