WeaveGrid has partnered with residential storage provider FranklinWH to integrate FranklinWH home batteries into WeaveGrid’s Distribution-Integrated System Capacity Orchestration (DISCO) platform, positioning WeaveGrid more deeply at the grid edge for utilities. The integration allows utilities to dispatch individual FranklinWH residential batteries based on specific distribution-level constraints, such as overloaded transformers, strained feeders, or stressed substations, via a single orchestration layer.
By extending DISCO beyond electric vehicles to include whole-home energy storage, WeaveGrid can now co-optimize multiple distributed energy resource types, coordinating residential batteries alongside managed EV charging for both bulk system and local distribution benefits. For utilities, this enhances visibility and control over behind-the-meter storage assets, enabling targeted, location-aware dispatch at scale, while FranklinWH customers gain structured access to utility programs that offer financial incentives for grid-supportive behavior without undermining home resilience.
WeaveGrid CEO and co-founder Apoorv Bhargava said the FranklinWH partnership marks a further evolution of DISCO, using the same asset-level visibility and control that utilities already rely on for EVs to manage residential batteries where local grid constraints are emerging fastest. This supports utilities navigating rapid electrification and accelerating adoption of distributed assets, helping them defer or optimize capital investments in distribution infrastructure by leveraging flexible customer-sited resources.
The collaboration also broadens WeaveGrid’s ecosystem of OEM integrations across batteries, EVs, and EV charging equipment, reinforcing DISCO as a vendor-agnostic orchestration platform rather than a point solution. Strategically, this positions WeaveGrid as a central software layer through which utilities can scale customer programs that integrate new distributed energy resources, accelerate program deployment, and unlock additional value streams for both customers and grid operators as DER penetration grows.
