Upscale AI has secured a $200 million Series A round led by Tiger Global, Premji Invest, and Xora Innovation, bringing its total funding to more than $300 million as it moves toward commercial deployment of its AI networking platform. The company positions itself as a pure-play AI networking infrastructure provider, arguing that legacy data center networks—built for general-purpose compute and storage—cannot meet the scale, latency, and synchronization demands of modern AI workloads. Its core SkyHammer scale-up solution is designed to unify GPUs, AI accelerators, memory, storage, and networking into a single, tightly synchronized rack-level system, effectively treating the entire AI cluster as one coherent engine. Upscale AI builds on and contributes to open standards and open source technologies such as ESUN, Ultra Accelerator Link, Ultra Ethernet, SONiC, and SAI, and is active in related industry consortia and foundations.

Backed by a syndicate that includes Maverick Silicon, StepStone Group, Mayfield, Prosperity7 Ventures, Intel Capital, and Qualcomm Ventures, Upscale AI plans to use the new capital to scale engineering, sales, and operations as it targets hyperscalers and AI infrastructure operators seeking open alternatives to proprietary networking stacks. Management says its first networking solutions are slated to ship this year, with early customer traction cited as a driver of the oversubscribed round. Investors and industry analysts quoted alongside the announcement frame AI networking as the key chokepoint and a potential $100 billion annual market by the end of the decade, contending that interconnect efficiency is becoming as important as raw compute for AI economics. CEO Barun Kar and Executive Chairman Rajiv Khemani describe the current window as a once-in-a-generation opportunity to define an open, scalable AI networking standard, positioning Upscale AI’s full-stack silicon, systems, and software offering as critical infrastructure for the next wave of AI and AGI-scale deployments.
